Information StepTrail processes
Apple Health data
With your permission, StepTrail reads your step-count data from Apple HealthKit. It does not read heart rate, workouts, medical records, or other HealthKit categories.
Step counts are used only to:
- Calculate distance and journey progress
- Unlock milestones and achievements
- Calculate app statistics and walking streaks
- Trigger local progress notifications
Journey and app data
Active journey selection, miles walked, milestones, achievements, streaks, and app statistics are stored locally using Apple’s storage frameworks.
What StepTrail does not do
- We do not operate a backend database of StepTrail users.
- We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or device identifiers.
- We do not include advertising networks or third-party analytics SDKs.
- We do not track people across apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share health or personal data.
Apple frameworks
StepTrail uses Apple-provided technologies:
- HealthKit for read-only step-count access
- SwiftData and local storage for progress
- UserNotifications for optional local notifications
- WidgetKit for optional watch-face complications
Retention and deletion
StepTrail data remains on your device until you reset journey data or uninstall the app. High Arch Labs does not maintain an external copy. Deleting StepTrail permanently removes its locally stored progress.
Your controls
You may revoke StepTrail’s Health access at any time through the Health privacy settings on your Apple Watch or paired iPhone. Notification permission can also be changed in Apple’s Settings.
Children’s privacy
StepTrail does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. The current version contains no advertising, social network, account, or external data collection.
Website privacy
This website does not intentionally use advertising trackers, third-party analytics, user accounts, or contact forms. Email links open your chosen email service, and your message is handled by that provider.
Future features and policy changes
If StepTrail later adds accounts, cloud storage, analytics, social features, or other services that process additional data, this policy will be updated before those features are released. Material changes will include an updated date and appropriate notice.
